On Thursday, May 2 from 1 to 3 p.m., representatives from Desert View Hospital will hold a free Health Fair at the Pahrump Senior Center. Among the free activities offered will be blood pressure checks, balance screenings, ask a cardiac nurse and ask a dietitian. Representatives from wound care, cardiopulmonary services, surgical services, emergency care and the laboratory will be on hand to answer any questions.
“We are excited to host this event in conjunction with the Pahrump Senior Center,” said Susan Davila, CEO of Desert View Hospital. “This is a wonderful way to provide free screenings and education, and share information about programs and services we offer locally.”
In the past several months, Desert View Hospital has added orthopedic surgical services, including equipment to perform total hip and total/partial knee replacements, and created a Fast-Track ER to help expedite care for emergency department patients. In February 2019, a new hospitalist group began providing around-the-clock physician care to patients in the medical-surgical unit. The hospitalist physician mix includes internal medicine physicians along with specialists in cardiology and pulmonology, which has allowed more patients to remain in Pahrump for medical care.
Desert View Hospital administration has also invested in new technology to improve patient safety. Medication barcode scanning technology has been installed in the pharmacy and medical-surgical nursing unit, and will be added to the surgery and emergency departments throughout March and early April.
